The new cohort begins Nov. 18th / 20th (depending on if you attend the theory sessions on Mondays or not). You can learn more and register for this new cohort here.
I also have a few spaces for 1on1 therapy/coaching clients. Learn more about my approach on my website.
I feel like I’m really starting to find my stride with this Comparative Meditation Course that I’m offering.
You see, I’ve been teaching meditation for over a decade now but could never quite find where I fit in.
Well that’s partly true. I fit in quite well with the eclectic cast of meditation teachers at Consciousness Explorers Club (CEC). Finding that group, and my long running friendship and collaborations with CEC founder Jeff Warren was a huge blessing.
Even so, I was still searching for my own voice, looking for my own unique offering that felt aligned for me and helpful for others.
In many ways I found this with my Comparative Meditation Course. Most meditation courses favour a particular system, a structured style or lineage of meditation that has a very clear progression of practice.
The problem for me is that I’ve never stuck to one system, one style of practice (I discuss my practice history in more detail here). Instead I explored many systems, looking for the principles and techniques that led to transformation, and by contemplating the commonalities as well as the differences between systems, I built a dynamic understanding of meditation and how it works; creating my own framework that helps overcome the barriers and deepen practice.
I’ve worked with many people 1on1 over the past decade and in each case, I find myself pulling from different traditions and techniques to help individuals overcome their unique challenges and find the practices that suit them and catalyze genuine transformation.
Finally I am now putting it all together to create this course. This will be my second time delivering it, and I’ve made a significant change that I’m confident will be a lot more helpful for participants.
While last time I tried to fit history, theory, and practice exploration all into one 2 hour session for each style of meditation, this time I will do history and theory in one session (recorded), and then a live 2 hour session dedicated entirely to practice, exploration, and discussion (also recorded if you can’t attend live).
This course is designed to suit an absolute beginner, but I’m sure more experienced practitioners will also get a lot out of it.
Here’s what makes this course unique:
Exploring and comparing 4 traditional styles of practice: Shamatha, Vipassana, Tantra, and Non-dual.
A fifth session exploring more contemporary approaches to meditation that I’ve found useful (like IFS meditation), as well as how we can integrate different practices.
A brief history to better understand the context of these traditions, including some profiling of great teachers, historical and contemporary.
Comparing both theory and practice among various traditions.
Exploring common sticking points in meditation and how to overcome them using a diverse toolset.
Giving you everything you need to customize your own practice, weaving in elements from the traditions that suit you.
Give you a framework to understand meditation and transformation and guide your own development.
A well curated list of approachable practice resources.
While there will be 2 sessions every week (theory and practice), you don’t need to attend both as they will be recorded.
Theory sessions are not required to attend the live sessions. Yes it would likely help, but the practice sessions will be guided in a way that no previous experience or knowledge is necessary.
Feel free to drop comments here with any questions, or reach out to me personally.
I hope to see you there!
The course helped clarify some aspects of Buddhism that were not clear to me. Sometimes you need help to cut through the massive amounts of information out there ;) Since then I've carried the momentum by reading Daniel Ingram's MCTB2 and Shinzen's Science of Enlightenment. And I then found an Insight oriented sangha in my local area. One day at a time :)
I'm so excited for this course! 🕊️♥️🤲
